Official inflation preview stands at 0.57% in April
With the April result, the indicator accumulates inflation of 2.59% in the year. In 12 months, the accumulated index is 4.16%, below the 5.36% registered until the previous month.
According to the IBGE, in April of this year, the nine groups of expenses showed inflation, with emphasis on the transport sector (1.44%). Increases in the prices of gasoline (3.47%), ethanol (1.10%) and airline tickets (11.96%) were registered.
In second place, appears the group health and personal care (1.04%), whose rise in prices was driven by items such as pharmaceutical products (1.86%) and health plan (1.20%).
The housing group also had a relevant impact on the IPCA-15, with a change of 0.48%, mainly due to residential electricity (0.84%).
Food recorded the lowest price change among all expense groups (0.04%). The other groups had the following inflation rates: clothing (0.39%), personal expenses (0.28%), education (0.11%), household items (0.07%) and communication (0.06 %).
Methodology
According to the IBGE, the IPCA-15 differs from the Extended National Consumer Price Index (IPCA), considered the country’s official inflation, only in the collection period, which generally covers the 16th of the month prior to the 15th of the month reference and geographical coverage.
The surveyed population involves families with incomes from one to 40 minimum wages, residing in 11 urban areas: Belém, Fortaleza, Recife, Salvador, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, in addition to the Federal District and Goiania.
