Nine automakers join the cheapest car program

Nine automakers adhered to the cheapest car program launched by the federal government on June 5th. They made available to consumers, for purchase at a discount, 233 versions of 31 models. The information was sent by the automakers themselves to the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade in Services (MDIC).

Car manufacturers that have joined the program are Renault, Volks, Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan, Honda, GM, Fiat and Peugeot.

The biggest discount, of R$ 8,000, went to Renault Kwid and Fiat Mobi. Next are Gol and Onix, with a R$7,000 discount, and Novo Polo, with a R$6,000 discount.

Volks, Hyundai, GM, Fiat, Peugeot and Renault have already asked for additional credit of over R$ 10 million.

Discounts sponsored by the government, which range from R$2,000 to R$8,000, and may reach higher amounts at the discretion of factories and dealerships.

The definition of discount ranges takes into account lower price, energy efficiency and national content. The higher the score for these criteria, the greater the discount.

The truck fleet renewal credit was joined by 10 automakers, with a total volume of R$ 100 million. They are: Volkswagen Truck, Mercedes-Benz, Scania, Fiat Chrysler, Peugeot Citroen, Volvo, Ford, Iveco, Mercedes-Benz Cars & Vans and Daf Caminhões.

For buses, there are companies: Mercedes-Benz, Scania, Fiat Chrysler, Mercedes-Benz Cars & Vans, Comil, Ciferal, Marcopolo, Volare and Iveco.

According to the Presidency of the Republic, the incentive program should last only 1 month, which should be enough to encourage the sector. Previously, the Ministry of Finance stated that the program would last 2 to 3 months.
