CEMPRE 2021: number of companies grew 6.2% in Paraná
In 2021, the number of companies and other active organizations grew by 6.2% compared to 2020, with 30,500 more local units. Within these companies, approximately 3.8 million people were employed in 2021, which represents a growth of 4.6% compared to 2020 (3.6 million people employed). During this period, there was an increase of around 131,000 people with formal employment, an increase of 4.4%.
Economist César Bergo explains that 2021 recorded positive numbers compared to 2020 because there was already greater control of the coronavirus pandemic, and the development of the vaccine. “There was then an important increase in the number of companies, some of them introducing new ways of working. What also helped a lot was the labor reform and the possibility for self-employed workers to become individual micro-entrepreneurs”, he assesses.
Agribusiness
Bergo explains that the South region ranks second in terms of number of companies and that, in Paraná, agribusiness was one of the activities that most contributed to the growth of companies. “Agribusiness stands out, as you have many cooperatives, many activities aimed at serving families. Commerce is very strong too, this ends up standing out in the state.”
Wage
In 2021, Paraná maintained the mark of 2.8 minimum wages, but recorded a drop in the average monthly salary, which dropped to R$ 3,065.84. The average reduction was 3.3% between the years 2020 and 2021. In 2020, the average monthly salary was R$ 3,169.30.
