FPM: 1st transfer of June with an increase of 26.8%; see values by municipality
On Monday (10), the municipalities shared around R$6.6 billion, while in the same period last year the transfer totaled just over R$5.1 billion. For the Fund for the Maintenance and Development of Basic Education and Valorization of Education Professionals (Fundeb), the amount transferred will be R$ 1.6 billion.
Public budget specialist, Cesar Lima says that, despite some occasional drops, this year’s FPM has grown compared to last year.
“We have very good news for our municipalities: a real increase, compared to the same ten-year period last year, of 26.8%. It seems that this will be a year of recovery for municipal finances, and it is up to the mayors good management so that they can close the year in the black”, he recommends.
Relief
President of the Amazon Association of Municipalities (AAM), Anderson Sousa recalls that, in recent years, the approval of salary adjustments for health and education professionals by the National Congress has put pressure on the accounts of a large number of city halls, especially the payroll of public servants.
He highlights that, in this scenario, significant increases in FPM transfers help to alleviate the situation.
“The forecast of an increase above 26% for public coffers is still important. This will help, at least, to alleviate the bills already obtained from Social Security, from the Federal Revenue Service and some commitments for small works that city halls they have done with their own resources. I see this moment of increase in the FPM as very important, given that we have had significant losses in recent months”, he points out.
