Dollar exceeds R$5.60 at the close of the last session
The dollar surpassed R$5.60 at the close of the last session. This level had not been reached for about a month. The American currency reached R$5.65, but retreated throughout the session, closing up 0.50%. The euro, in turn, closed at R$6.14.
The results came after President Lula defended the Income Tax exemption for individuals who earn up to R$5,000. For financial market analysts, the position raises concerns regarding Brazil’s fiscal health.
Furthermore, according to economists, the higher-than-expected inflation figures in the United States, added to the tensions of conflicts in the Middle East, increased the fear of investors, who opted for safer currencies at the moment.
