Theft or theft of assets affects 54% of companies, reveals CNI

Data released by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) reveal that, in the last 12 months, 54% of companies interviewed by the entity reported having suffered crimes such as robbery or theft of property. According to 28% of these companies, crimes occurred within the companies. 26% said that the incidents occurred during transport. In third place, with 24% of cases, cybercrimes were recorded, such as data kidnapping and PIX scams, for example.

O lifting It also shows that the fourth most cited crime by companies is related to piracy and counterfeiting, at 11%. Vandalism against companies appears next, at 8%. Another alleged point is the so-called “protection fees”, normally charged by drug traffickers, militiamen or police, which appear in 7% of incidents.

Evolution of crimes

According to 43% of businesspeople, over the last three years the illicit activity that has evolved the most has been the sale of non-compliant products – that is, pirated, counterfeit, smuggled, stolen or stolen. Practically half of the companies also said that digital commerce increased the sale of this type of product.

According to the superintendent of Industrial Policy at CNI, Fabrício Silveira, this data helps to identify problems faced by companies and, therefore, contributes to the search for solutions. “With data, we have the ability to be more effective in diagnosing and proposing public policies to combat these illegalities”, he states.

The survey interviewed 250 small, medium and large companies, from 23 industrial sectors distributed across the five regions of the country. The data was obtained between November 11th and 21st and presented at the last meeting of the Brasil Legal Working Group, at the end of November.
