Ibovespa closes on a high and above 129 thousand points
The Brazilian stock exchange index (Ibovespa) closed the last trading session above 129 thousand points. With an increase of 1.06%, it closed at 129,593 points, reaching over 130 thousand points during the day.
After information released by Hospital Sírio-Libanês about a new medical procedure that President Lula is expected to undergo this Thursday morning (12), the index soared. For investors who monitor the health status of the Chief Executive, there is a consideration of the reduced likelihood of the president running for a second term in 2026.
The index was also closed with expectations regarding the interest rate decision by the Monetary Policy Committee (Copom).
Vale ended with losses of 1.56%, while Petrobras rose 1.00%. Totvs shares led, with an increase of 7.37%.
