Economic team monitors possible impacts of the crisis on Credit Suisse

The economic team is monitoring the unfolding of the crisis at the Credit Suisse bank, which affects the financial market across the planet, said this Wednesday (15) the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad. In a quick conversation with journalists, Haddad informed that he and the team are in contact with the president of the Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto, to assess possible impacts on Brazil.

On Tuesday (14), the Swiss financial institution revealed that it had identified “significant weaknesses” in its accounting and control procedures in the last two years, which led to the fall of the shares. European stock exchanges had the worst day in a year.

Turbulence at Credit Suisse occurs days after two California banks linked to tech startups failedwhich has generated instability in the financial market since the end of last week.

Haddad also informed that the draft bill of the new fiscal framework that will replace the spending cap has already been sent to the Civil House. “It’s already on the Planalto”, said the minister to journalists, upon returning to the Ministry of Finance after following the inauguration of the new minister of the Federal Audit Court (TCU), Jhonatan de Jesus.
