Alckmin defends the strengthening of cooperativism in the country
During an event at the Itamaraty, Alckmin assessed that world society is becoming richer and more unequal. For him, the strengthening of cooperativism adds value, unites small entrepreneurs and brings benefits to society in the areas of health, transport, agribusiness and credit.
“There is only one way for small businesses to survive. Scale, compete, have support, reach new markets. It is through associativism and cooperativism”, he stated.
The vice president also defended the strengthening of Latin American integration.
According to Alckmin, Canada, the United States and Mexico carry out around 50% of product trade between the three countries. In the European Union, 60% of trade is carried out between the bloc’s countries, while in Latin America only 26% of trade is carried out between member countries.
“We need to make an effort for Latin American integration. I would highlight here the Portuguese-speaking countries and the African countries. In short, we make an effort for us to strengthen the economy, bringing more economic partnerships, foreign trade and being able to advance further”, concluded.
Alckmin participated in the international seminar Cooperatives for Sustainable Development, at the Itamaraty Palace, in Brasília. The event is sponsored by the United Nations (UN) and the Organization of Brazilian Cooperatives (OCB).
