On the other hand, the highest increases were observed in Porto Alegre, where there was an increase of 5.02% in the monthly cost of the basket, in Florianópolis (3.65%), in Goiânia (3.53%), in Brasília (3. 43%) and in Fortaleza (3.38%).
In April, the most expensive basic food basket in the country continues to be in São Paulo, which has been happening at least since the beginning of this year. Based on the value of the most expensive basket, which in April was again that of São Paulo, Dieese calculated what would be the ideal minimum wage in the country to cover expenses with food, housing, health, education, clothing, hygiene, transportation, leisure and pension. According to the entity, the minimum wage should have been R$ 6,676.11 in April, or 5.13 times higher than the minimum wage last month (R$ 1,302.00).
This week, the federal government announced the readjustment in the value of the new minimum wage in the country: as of this month, it will be worth R$ 1,320.00.
