BNDES announces BRL 3.6 billion for Pronaf Safrinha
“We are going to start opening the register in the next few days”, said Mercadante, in an interview granted after participating in the Industry Day event, promoted by the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp).
Industry Day
During the event in São Paulo, Mercadante announced a package of BNDES measures aimed at the industrial sector. Among the measures are the provision of R$ 2 billion to Brazilian exporting companies with revenues in US currency or linked to exchange variation; the reduction of spreads to finance the production of domestic goods for export; and the provision of R$ 20 billion, over the next four years, to finance innovation with interest at the Referential Rate (TR).
The first line announced by him, of R$ 2 billion – which could reach R$ 4 billion – will be offered to the export industry under the same conditions as agriculture: 7.5% interest per year, with a fixed rate in dollars and two years of deficiency.
In turn, the BRL 20 billion in resources will be used to finance innovation over the next four years at a rate of 1.7% per year and a two-year grace period. “Anyone who wants to innovate can go to the BNDES, which will have money,” said Mercadante, during the event.
BNDES Exim Pré-Embarque will finance the production of domestic goods to be exported. In this case, the spread charged by the bank will be reduced by up to 60%, in the case of micro, small and medium-sized companies (MSMEs) but, according to the bank, the improvements in line conditions will cover companies of all sizes.
Resources
In an interview with the press, Mercadante said that the resources brought to the country on international trips made by the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in addition to the fight against deforestation in the country, allowed the development bank to announce all these lines of financing.
“Although we don’t have any subsidy so far, all this effort we are making is to extract milk from a stone. We are bringing resources that the entry of President Lula internationally and the fight against deforestation in the Amazon (allowed)”.
According to Mercadante, the fight against deforestation in the country “brings not only the Amazon Fund but also funding for the economy”.
“It is these lines of financing that are allowing us to offer, for example, the BRL 8 billion in industry and agriculture today. This is money that does not pass through the Budget. This is a resource that comes from abroad and we manage to finance the export sectors,” he added.
