CFEM: R$74 million released for affected municipalities
The municipality that received the largest amount was Marabá (PA). From May 2023 to April 2024, more than R$2.2 million were distributed. Close behind is São Luís (MA), with R$2.2 million and Açailândia (MA), which received approximately R$2 million.
According to ANM’s superintendent of Revenue Collection and Inspection, Daniel Pollack, one of CFEM’s objectives is to remunerate mineral producing entities for the exploitation that mining companies carry out of natural resources.
“The fact that there is this transport structure of a railway, a port or a mining pipeline and the fact that there are mining structures that make it possible to use the deposit are the conditions that make the city impacted by mining activity, so at least In this part of the port highways, the legislation does foresee the possibility of being a municipality affected by mining activity”, he explains.
CFEM: affected municipalities in Minas Gerais received more than R$24 million for January
CFEM: collection of mining royalties exceeded R$6.8 billion in 2023
The cycle, which includes collections that occurred between May 2023 and April 2024, ended with this distribution.
Of the total to be distributed, approximately R$38 million will go to locations that have railways, R$29 million to locations with mining structures, just over R$5.3 million where ports are located and R$127 thousand to cities with pipelines .
