Dollar today: currency opens the second half of 2023 at a low, quoted at R$ 4.81
Despite the rise in the dollar in recent days, due to investor preference for US bonds, there is an expectation that the currency could reach R$ 4.60 by the end of this year, according to projections made by the market itself. .
Even so, Latin American currencies should go through a test period against the dollar with the beginning of the fall in interest rates that should occur in the second half.
The euro also dropped and started the day quoted at BRL 5.26 for buying and selling. The retreat was 0.43%.
The Ibovespa fell 0.25% to 118,087 points. The reduction was driven mainly by Petrobras shares, which fell 4.83% in relation to the last trading session and are quoted at R$ 29.53. Vale shares also influenced the index and fell 1.10%, quoted at R$ 64.69.
The blue chips – the main shares of the stock exchange – were the ones that pulled the index down. There was an accumulated drop of 0.75% in the Ibovespa compared to the last week, but gains of 9% in June. The Index opens the week up 1.19% over the entire first half.
