O dollar americano started this Tuesday (4) quoted at R$ 4.78 for purchase and sale. There was a drop in the currency in relation to the last close, by 0.65%.

Despite the rise registered in recent days, due to investor preference for US bonds, projections indicate that the dollar could reach R$ 4.60 by the end of this year, according to estimates made by the market itself.

Even so, Latin American currencies should go through a test period against the dollar, with the beginning of the fall in interest rates that should occur in the second half.

The period will be a resilience test for Latin currencies. Lower interest rates tend to positively favor the stock exchanges, but not necessarily the appreciation of the real against other currencies.

O euro also had a fall. The retreat was 0.65% and the currency is quoted at R$ 5.22 for purchase and sale.

O Ibovespa opened at a high of 1.34% and is again approaching the level of 120 thousand points. The index is at 119,672 points. This positive movement on the Stock Exchange and currency quotations reflects the decline in inflation expectations, as announced on Monday (3) by the Focus Bulletin. The drop in inflation should be followed by lower interest rates, making the Stock Exchange more attractive.

The shares of Vale (VALE3) and Petrobras (PETR4 and PETR3) influenced the increase in the index and rose 3.22% and 1.89%, respectively. Vale’s shares are quoted at R$66.29. From Petrobras, at R$ 30.09.
