Fall in the price of natural gas takes effect this Monday
This Monday (1st), the average reduction of 8.1% in the price of natural gas, as announced by Petrobras last month, begins to take effect.

According to the company, the contracts with the distributors provide for quarterly updates of the gas price and link the readjustments to fluctuations in Brent oil and the exchange rate.

In the quarter ended in April, the price of oil fell by around 8.7%. The exchange rate appreciated by approximately 1.1%. “The portion of the price related to gas transportation is updated annually in May, linked to the variation of the IGP-M, and will be updated by approximately 0.2% from May 2023”, said the oil company.

Since the beginning of the year, the price of gas sold by Petrobras to distributors has dropped by 19%.

“Petrobras emphasizes that the final price of natural gas to the consumer is not determined only by the company’s selling price, but also by the supply portfolio of each distributor, as well as by their margins (and, in the case of CNG – Natural Gas Vehicular , from retail outlets) and federal and state taxes. In addition, consumer tariffs are approved by state regulatory agencies, according to specific legislation and regulation”, informs the state-owned company.

According to Petrobras, the natural gas price update does not affect the price of cooking gas (LPG), bottled in cylinders or sold in bulk.
