FPM: municipalities receive R$8.5 billion on Friday, 17% more than in the same period in 2023

Brazilian municipalities will receive this Friday (8) the first transfer from the Municipal Participation Fund (FPM) for the month of November. In total, the city halls will share R$ 8,538,596,035.82. The value is around 17% higher than the amount transferred in the same period last year, R$7,278,956,430.97.

According to public budget specialist, Cesar Lima, the difference compared to the third ten days of October reaches around 50%, which shows that the value is significantly higher. For him, in general, the FPM has been more expressive in 2024 compared to last year, which could be caused by an improvement in economic activity.

“This contributed to the components of the FPM, which is income tax, both for companies and individuals, and also with the IPI (Tax on Industrialized Products). So we have this scenario, this combination of factors that lead to this good FPM result in 2024”, he considers.

In the southern region of the country, for example, the highlight goes to Rio Grande do Sul, with a total value of R$538,627,479.99, which will be distributed among cities such as Vacaria, Triunfo and São Leopoldo.

In the North of Brazil, the federation unit that will receive the largest amount is Pará, with a total of R$ 243,068,828.13, shared between cities such as Abaetetuba, Ananindeua and Altamira. In both cases, values received by the capitals are not being considered.

Normally, transfers for the first ten days are made on the 10th of each month, but when the date falls on the weekend, municipalities receive the resources on the first business day before.

To unblock the transfer, the public manager must identify the body that ordered the freeze. Then, you must find out the reason and rectify the situation. It is worth remembering that the city hall does not lose blocked resources permanently. They are simply frozen until the pending issues are resolved.
