FPM: Union transfers R$1.3 billion, this Friday (20); see how much your municipality will receive
The result, according to public budget specialist Cesar Lima, points to a recovery scenario, despite the value being lower than that recorded in the first ten days of this month, when the total was R$4,276,269,144.67.
“This ten-day period is very interesting, as it is 32% higher than the same period last year, proving that we are in a year of recovery for the FPM. And, as it is a mid-month ten-day period, it is 68% lower than the first ten-day period of September. Let’s hope that the third ten-day period is also good, even though it is usually lower than the first,” he says.

What is FPM
The FPM is considered the main source of revenue for approximately 80% of Brazilian municipalities. It is a transfer provided for in the Federal Constitution, corresponding to 22.5% of what the Union collects in Income Tax (IR) and Tax on Industrialized Products (IPI).
The amount received by municipalities varies according to the number of inhabitants and, each year, is updated based on data published by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
