IPC-S ends June with a 0.10% drop in prices

The Weekly Consumer Price Index (IPC-S) closed the month of June with deflation (price drop) of 0.10%. In May, the indicator had recorded inflation of 0.08%. According to data released this Monday (3) by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), the IPC-S accumulates an inflation rate of 2.22% in 12 months.


Of the eight expense groups, two showed deflation and contributed to the negative rate of the IPC-S, food (0.36%) and transportation (1.14%).
Among the six groups with inflation, the main highlight was education, reading and recreation, which had a price increase of 0.87%. In May, the group had the highest deflation (3.37%).
The other expense groups had the following rates: clothing (0.50%), housing (0.23%), health and personal care (0.19%), communication (0.14%) and miscellaneous expenses (0. 12%).
