Lula and Macron meet this month in summit on financial pact
The event, which takes place in Paris, on the 22nd and 23rd of June, will address, among other points, the reform of the multilateral development banks, the financing of green technologies, the creation of new international taxes, and financing instruments and special rights drawing.
The summit will bring together several world leaders to address the issue. In addition to participating in the event, Lula will also have a bilateral meeting with Macron.
“Very good to have you with us, dear President @LulaOficial. See you in 19 days!” Macron tweeted. ()

The president of France also said that the world needs a green economy “that leaves no one behind”. Then he amended: “together we can create a new financial pact”.
Soon after, Lula responded to Macron thanking him for the invitation and said that Brazil has reintegrated into the world and has been building partnerships with more opportunities for the country, based on cooperation and sustainable development.
Brazil has reintegrated itself into the world, dialoguing and building partnerships, in search of better opportunities for our country, and a world with more cooperation and sustainable development. Thanks for the invite, friend @EmmanuelMacron. https://t.co/NBX5JJyvyT

In May, during the G7 meeting, Macron had already defended the formation of a new global financial pact to fight poverty and strengthen the fight against climate change. The proposal, initially launched by France during COP 27 last year in Egypt, is focused on reforming the global financial system to respond to the challenges posed by global warming.
