Lula receives a visit from the Dutch Prime Minister this Tuesday
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva receives, this Tuesday (9), the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, in Brasília. The Dutch premier is on a trade mission in the country, accompanied by a delegation of businessmen from the European country. The visit began in São Paulo this Monday (8), passing through Brasília and then Ceará.

Rutte will be received tomorrow, at the Planalto Palace, at 4:30 pm, in a bilateral meeting focusing on issues on the trade agenda. A joint statement between the two heads of government is scheduled for the end of the day. After that, president Lula and the first lady, Janja da Silva, will host a dinner for the Dutch delegation at the Itamaraty Palace.

According to the Planalto Palace, the last part of Rutte’s visit will be in Fortaleza, where the prime minister will visit the Pecém Port Terminal, which has a partnership of 75 million euros with the Port of Rotterdam, one of the main ones in Europe.

Traditional trading partners of Brazil, the Netherlands are among the largest immediate foreign investors in the Brazilian market, with a stock of around US$ 126 billion in 2021, according to the government. In 2022, it was the fourth country in the world – and the first in Europe – that most imported Brazilian products, with a flow of US$ 11.9 billion. The Kingdom of the Netherlands is ranked 21st in the ranking of countries that most exported to Brazil, with US$ 2.75 billion.

The main Brazilian export product to the Netherlands was oil, with 18% of the total, followed by soy (9.5%) and iron (5.9%). Refined fuels accounted for 42% of products imported by Brazil, followed by fertilizers (11%) and industrialized products (4.7%).
