The Ministry of Integration and Regional Development, MIDR, through the National Civil Defense, authorized, this Thursday, April 25th, the transfer of 9 million and 300 thousand reais to seventeen cities in the states of Bahia, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Pará, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.

With the exception of Magé, in Rio de Janeiro, hit by floods, and Otacílio Costa, in Santa Catarina, with hail, the remaining 15 were hit by heavy rains.

In Bahia, the cities of Canudos and São Miguel das Matas will buy basic food baskets, personal hygiene kits, dormitory kits, cleaning kits and mattresses. Furthermore, the municipality of Itapé will rebuild houses.

Vargem Alta, in Espírito Santo, will reestablish a wooden bridge in Morro do Sal. The municipality of Mimoso do Sul, also in Espírito Santo, is the warehouse of the municipal health secretary.

In Minas Gerais, Coluna will rebuild a retaining wall.

In Pará, the city of Rio Maria will count on the resources to reestablish a highway. While Santa Luzia do Pará to purchase basic food baskets.

In Rio de Janeiro, Japeri will recover the riverbank and restore public roads, while Magé will have resources available for response actions.

The same happens with the municipality of Santo Ângelo, in Rio Grande do Sul. Another city in Rio Grande do Sul, Rolante, will receive the amount to reestablish the Moranga and Contestado Pensil Bridges.

In Santa Catarina, São Pedro de Alcântara will have resources to restore drainage and public roads. São João do Sul for the reestablishment of a highway, while also in Santa Catarina, Otacílio Costa, to recover the coverage of the Valdecir José Carvalho Early Childhood Education Center.

Finally, in Pernambuco, Brejo da Madre de Deus will revitalize the wet passage of the Capibaribe River.

Across the country, states and municipalities affected by disasters can request MIDR resources for civil defense actions.

Minister Waldez Góes explains how transfers can be applied.

“Civil Defense resources can be used in the first moment that a disaster occurs to provide humanitarian assistance, to provide hygiene kits, food to people who were affected, who face the consequences of that disaster, as well as to restore essential services, such as, for example, water supply and clearing of public roads. Furthermore, we can also use Civil Defense resources to rebuild public infrastructure destroyed by the disaster or homes destroyed by the disaster.”
