Official inflation preview stands at 0.04% in June, says IBGE
The Extended National Consumer Price Index 15 (IPCA-15), which measures the preview of official inflation, registered a 0.04% increase in prices in June this year. The rate is lower than the 0.51% of May of this year and 0.69% of June of last year.

According to data released this Tuesday (27) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the IPCA-15 accumulates a rate of 3.16% in the year and 1.12% in the second quarter (IPCA-E). In 12 months, the accumulated rate is 3.40%, below the 4.07% accumulated until May.

The main factor responsible for the rise in prices in the June preview is housing expenses (0.96%). The result was influenced by readjustments in water and sewage rates in four capitals, which caused an average increase of 3.64% in the country, and in residential electricity tariffs also in four capitals, which resulted in an average increase of 1.45%.

Another five groups had high prices, including clothing (0.79%). The three groups that recorded deflation (falling prices) were transportation (-0.55%), food and beverages (-0.51%) and household items (-0.01%).

In transport, the deflation was driven by fuels (-3.75%): gasoline (-3.40%), diesel oil (-8.29%), ethanol (-4.89%) and vehicle gas (-2 .16%). The drop in food prices was influenced by soybean oil (-8.95%), fruits (-4.39%), long-life milk (-1.44%) and meats (-1.13%).
