Pará: more than R$ 1 million will be invested in the production of açaí

With the support of the local offices of the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of Pará (Emater), around 34 farmers in the municipalities of Anajás and Melgaço will receive support of more than R$ 1 million for the production of açaí, via the National Strengthening Program of Family Agriculture (Pronaf), “Forest” line.

The funds will be released by Banco da Amazônia and the beneficiaries will have a grace period of three years, a period of seven years for payment with interest of 5% per annum and payment of an annual installment.

For the economics professor, Pierre Oberson points out that this type of credit is very important for the local economy.

“In general, they are small producers who do not have access to other sources of credit, not price, so they get cheaper credit, they can then leverage their production, it has a very low interest rate, attractive and with a relatively high grace period, so make it easy. This situation and then for the municipality as a whole, the advantage is to improve, of course, the life of its population, to make the economy run more efficiently, also then there is a whole chain that is encouraged, you know. So for the local economy, this is very relevant”, highlighted the professor.

In Melgaço, the beneficiaries are producers of settlements of agroextractive projects in the Capital Islands, Melgaço, Galileia and Ilha Grande do Laguna, while in the municipality of Anajás, those contemplated with the projects are farmers on the banks of the Alto Anajás, Baixo Anajás and Mocoões rivers.
