Pará received more than 930,000 tourists in 2022, generating BRL 660 million for the state

The state of Pará received more than 938,000 tourists who visited Pará last year, generating more than R$ 662 million in foreign exchange for the state’s economy. Of the total of 938,000 tourists, 900,000 were domestic tourists and 38,000 were international tourists.

The figures were released by the State Department of Tourism (Setur) and the Inter-union Department of Statistics Socioeconomic Studies (Dieese-Pa).

For economist Aurélio Troncoso, Brazil needs to organize itself economically so that Brazilians can travel more, since a large part of the economic movement in the tourism sector is done by foreign tourists.

“Brazil has to reorganize, the post-pandemic. First in terms of values, we see that we Brazilians who are going to be tourists, we have less money. We are getting poorer. So the prices that are practiced in the tourist areas of Brazil are relatively being made for foreigners and not for Brazilians to live. So we have to have a better readjustment of prices so that we Brazilians can visit these sectors, these tourist places in Brazil. Because if not, it’s much more advantageous for you to leave here for Argentina, where the real is more valued than the peso. You go, for example, to Paraguay, Uruguay, Paraguay, mainly because our currency is much more valued”, highlighted the economist.

For the year 2023, the State of Pará expects to receive 1.044 million tourists, of which 990,000 are Brazilians and 54,000 are foreigners, that is, a variation of 10% in the volume of domestic tourists and 39.9% in the volume of international tourists. , based on the year 2022. In terms of revenue, the goal for tourism in Pará is to generate R$ 750 million, that is, a variation of 13.3% of revenue in reais.
