Petrobras announced this Thursday (15) a reduction of R$ 0.13 in the liter of gasoline sold to fuel distributors. With the price drop of 4.66%, the liter will cost R$ 2.66 as of this Friday (16).

As the gasoline sold at pumps has an addition of 27% anhydrous ethanol, Petrobras’ share of the price of fuel sold at gas stations will be R$ 1.94 per liter.

According to Petrobras, if the other agents in the fuel chain (distributors and service stations) maintain the values of their installments, the average price to the final consumer could reach R$ 5.33 per liter, based on the latest survey carried out by the National Agency of Oil, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP).

“It should be noted that the amount effectively charged to the final consumer at the service station is also affected by other factors such as taxes, blend of biofuels and profit margins from distribution and resale”, says the company in a note.

According to the statement, “Petrobras’ price reduction has as its main objectives the maintenance of the company’s price competitiveness in relation to its customers’ main supply alternatives and the necessary market share for the optimization of refining assets in balance with national and international markets”.
