Doctor in economics and professor at Mackenzie University, Hugo Garbe advises that indebted workers should use the payment to settle debts. “Mainly the most expensive debts, the credit card, for example, it has one of the most expensive interest rates in Brazil”, he points out.
The economist adds that it is important to save part of the amount to create an emergency reserve. “You have to save that money to count on that money at important moments in life. Some health problem or becoming unemployed, anyway”, he considers.
If the withdrawal is not carried out by August 5, the amounts will be transferred to the National Treasury. However, interested parties may still request a new withdrawal from the Union within a period of up to 5 (five) years.
The rules for requesting reimbursement are yet to be disclosed in a joint Ordinance by the Ministry of Labor and Employment, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Planning and Budget.
