Procon verifies an average drop of 5% in the price of gasoline in Rio
A survey by Procon-RJ at points of sale of fuel in Rio de Janeiro found 14 establishments that did not pass on to customers the price reductions practiced by Petrobras.

The state autarchy for consumer protection inspected 300 establishments between Monday (22) and Tuesday (23), in several municipalities in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

According to Procon-RJ, establishments will have ten days to explain why they have not reduced the value of their products. One of the locations, a warehouse in the west zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro, lowered the value of a gas cylinder (13 kg) from R$ 118 to R$ 95 at the time of the inspection.

Most establishments, however, had reduced prices. The average drop in gasoline values ​​verified was 5% in relation to the prices shown by the National Petroleum Agency (ANP), in the previous week.

The average price of gasoline in Greater Rio was R$5.19, while bottled gas had an average price of R$90.20 in the region.

“We identified a progressive reduction in fuel values, showing that the measure is being effective. We found an average reduction of 5% in gasoline and 7% in diesel”, informed the president of Procon-RJ, Cássio Coelho.

Procon-RJ’s action was motivated by a request from the National Secretariat for Consumer Protection (Senacon), so that Procons throughout the country inspect the points fuel sales.
