Salarymeter: salary adjustment was above inflation in May
In May, the median wage adjustment was 5.3%, surpassing the accumulated inflation of the last 12 months by 1.5 percentage points. The percentage represents the biggest real increase in the year 2023. The median wage floor – which corrects discrepancies – negotiated was R$ 1,630 in May.

The information is contained in the Salariômetro bulletin, released today (28) by the Economic Research Institute Foundation (Fipe). The Salariômetro analyzes the results of 40 salary negotiations, which are collected on the Medor portal, of the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

The balance also revealed that 91.9% of negotiated wage readjustments were above the accumulated INPC, the highest proportion ever observed in the historical series of the Salariômetro.

“Similar proportions were only registered in 2018. In January of that year, 91.0% of the readjustments exceeded the INPC. At that time, inflation hovered around 2%. Now it is around 4%, which emphasizes the significance of the current readjustments”, announced Fipe.

According to the entity, the INPC for June is the same as for May and the preview indicates the proportion of 81.4% of readjustments above inflation.
