Straw Hat Program 2023: registrations must be made by June 2
Rural workers working in the sugarcane industry who are interested in participating in the “Chapéu de Palha 2023” program must seek registration at the Secretariat for Planning, Management and Regional Development by June 2nd.

To be entitled to benefit from the Program it is necessary to be a sugarcane worker, rural bituqueiro, ruralista, rural cabo or harvester in the last contract and to be a resident of the Pernambuco municipalities contemplated by the Sugarcane Program.

In addition, interested parties must be at least 18 years old and have carried out the registered sugarcane activity for at least 30 consecutive days in the period of 36 (thirty-six) months prior to the start of registration.

To receive the aid, it is also necessary not to be receiving unemployment insurance or pension by the INSS. Professionals aged between 18 and 24 who are unemployed due to the off-season can register as long as they meet the other requirements of the Program, even if there are other beneficiaries at home.

Economist Newton Ferreira points out that this benefit is only for seasons when farmers are out of work.

“This benefit is used in certain circumstances such as public policies, this ends up benefiting those people who are unemployed or unemployed in seasonal terms and this is something that is temporary, which is why these public policies are important to absorb labor, create jobs and income for these people, mainly low-income people”, highlighted the economist.

Documentation required for registration:

  • proof of PIS or NIS
  • RG
  • CPF
  • Proof of address
  • digital work wallet
  • National register of social information (CNIS)
  • Digital work card issued up to 15 days prior to registration.
