Tourism sector estimates increase of 26% for 2023
According to recent data from Embratur, between April and December of this year, 9.7 million seats are scheduled on international flights to Brazil. If compared to the same period last year, there will be a growth of 26%.

Between March 21st and 23rd, Embratur participated in the “Routes Americas” fair, which brought together the main airlines in the world. At the event, the agency proposed plans to increase the offer of international flights to Brazil in the period 2024 and 2025.

The company travel agent Various Destinationsin the DF, Fabio Oliveira, says that 2022 was the year of recovery for Brazilian tourism.

“What we are currently realizing is that the year 2022 was really the year of recovery, we grew a lot that year. Total revenues in the country reached 17 billion reais, which is very important data for tourism,” said Oliveira.

The growth of the international airline network is one of the institutional missions at Embratur, which has been working in partnership with airlines, promoting Brazilian destinations in the countries where these flights originate, to generate demand that gives economic sustainability to the new routes.

Economist César Bergo explains that tourism, especially foreign tourism, is extremely important for the country’s economic growth, since Brazil is a place with many possibilities for ecological and environmental tours, which makes it highly attractive.

“Tourism is a very important segment, not only for the economy but also for the general development of a nation. Brazil today offers a great opportunity for tourism, mainly due to issues related to the security of the whole world with wars and also with the difficulties of commercial relations between the countries. Brazil appears with a great alternative, not only with ecological and environmental issues, but our country has forests and ecological destinations, lots of water. This attracts foreign tourists a lot”, emphasizes the economist.

Embratur states that, in some cases, there will be an increase in the frequency of existing routes, but there will also be the announcement of new routes with airlines that already operate in Brazil, as well as the start of operations of new airlines.
