Tourist activities grow 14.8% in February
According to the Monthly Survey of Services, 12 states showed significant progress in tourist services in February this year compared to last year, with emphasis on São Paulo (12.5%), Minas Gerais (25.2%), Rio de Janeiro ( 12.4%), Bahia (20.2%), Paraná (23%) and Santa Catarina (23.9%).
Also according to the study, the accumulated increase in 2023, of 5.5%, indicates a tourist expansion of 13.8% compared to the same period last year, as a result of the boost obtained by the revenue generated by companies in the car rental business; restaurants; hotels; travel agencies; collective road transport of passengers; and catering services.
Data from the IBGE show that passenger transport in Brazil registered an increase of 2.6% in February compared to January of this year. In this segment, the country is 5% above the February 2020 level (pre-pandemic). In relation to the accumulated result for the first two months of this year, passenger transport expanded by 9.0% compared to the same period in 2022.
