Volume of services in the country drops 1.6% from March to April
In other types of comparison, however, services showed growth: 2.7% in relation to April 2022, 4.8% in the accumulated of the year and 6.8% in the accumulated of 12 months.
The 1.6% loss in the sector from March to April was driven by four of the five activities surveyed by the IBGE, with emphasis on the transport sector (-4.4%). In February and March, the segment had accumulated a high of 7.5%.
In April, there was a decrease of 3.4% and 1.4% in the cargo and passenger transport sector.
Negative impact
“Several service segments within this sector ended up generating a negative impact: management of ports and terminals, road freight transport, collective passenger road and pipeline transport. These segments were important in terms of the volume of services, surpassing the borders of the sector itself”, said the research manager, Rodrigo Lobo, through a note released by the IBGE.
There was also a decrease in information and communication services (-1%); professional, administrative and complementary services (-0.6%) and other services (-1.1%).
And services provided to families are part of the only segment with an increase (1.2%), after an accumulated loss of 2.2% in February and March.
Nominal revenue fell 0.4% from March to April, but grew 8% compared to April last year, 10.8% accumulated in the year and 13.9% accumulated in 12 months.
