Summary of April 2023 Surveys

The business and consumer confidence indices fell by 0.3 and 0.2 points, respectively, in April. The result came from a movement of accommodation, after an increase of two points in the previous month. The scenarios were motivated by the worsening of expectations for the coming months.

The business indicator begins the second quarter with a reflection of the low level of economic activity in the cyclical segments of the economy. Consumer confidence, in turn, has remained in the range between 80 and 90 points since August last year, still far from the neutral level of 100 points.
