With 31 new markets open for agribusiness, Brazil expands the presence of products on the world market
In the opinion of lawyer specialized in agrarian law Francisco Torma, the development of Brazilian agribusiness is fundamental to making the country’s economic scenario healthier.
“The great economic advantage is always linked and related to our positive balance of trade. So, as Brazil is a country that always has a positive balance of trade, that is, it exports more than it imports, this is fundamental for an increase in our economy, for the good health of our economy”, he observes.
Torma adds that, in addition to boosting the trade balance, Brazilian agribusiness is able to generate more jobs, more economic development and more taxes collected.
“Certainly we want this type of situation within our exports and imports relationship”, he highlights.
Opening of markets
Producers celebrate this result. They believe that entering the world market is an opportunity, mainly, for small producers. “The impact of opening markets does not just reach large agro-industries or crops. The industry completes something that began in the riverside region”, recalls Rafael Ferreira, marketing director at Petruz Fruity, a company from Pará that makes several products from açaí.
Rafael Ferreira remembers that producers from distant parts of the country that make up the chain benefit from the internationalization of production.
“Often, behind our day of production, there are hundreds of families. If there are a lot of families, there is income being generated every day, there is opportunity, there is purchasing power, then this is positive for us, it is positive for the chain and, for family farming, it certainly is too”, he assesses.
The marketing director of Petruz Fruity also celebrates the opportunity to present his product on the foreign market.
“Entering the culture of açaí consumption is a reason for great happiness for us. It is not yet an overheated market, but we know that we are in the first steps of this happening”, he highlights.
Featured Products
Since the beginning of the year, Brazil has demonstrated an optimistic scenario for different products. Mapa data reveals that the history of new market openings includes not only the export of already consolidated products – such as meat and soy – but also a variety of other items such as fish, seeds, gelatin and collagen, eggs, products derived from animal recycling , açaí powder, green coffee, as well as embryos and semen.
In the current situation, lawyer Francisco Torma highlights the good performance of soybeans.
“We are a country that exports a lot of commodities, but mainly soybeans, and other things such as meat and other types of grains. But our export capacity is very linked to the soy product”, he explains.
But he believes that we need to go further. “When we have an increase in products and countries that come out of this Brazil-China bilaterality with soybeans, this is advantageous for the producer who can reach new markets”, he assesses.
Historical result
The Mapa survey reveals that every four days, a new market was opened for agriculture this year. March was the month that led the period with ten new openings in seven countries, followed by January, which registered nine markets in five countries. February and April complete the list, with openings in seven and five markets, spread across six and three countries, respectively.
According to the ministry, the sanitary concessions obtained from each country are made through agreements with sanitary and phytosanitary requirements, allowing the commercialization of agricultural products and the strengthening of partnerships.
